Scentwork classes in Hazlemere and Aylesbury
Where are the classes held?
Our UKSD Scentwork classes are held at Cedar Barn Hall Hazlemere, HP15 7BQ or Halton Village Hall, Aylesbury, HP22 5NG
Our classes are run as a 6 week block of classes with each class lasting 1 hour.
Beginners Scentwork (Bronze)
Who are the classes for?
Are you a dog owner that would like to try Scentwork whether it’s for fun, for working purposes, as a form of enrichment or you just want to try something new with your dog?
Well I have great news for you… Scentwork is for Everyone!
Any dog, any breed, any age can take part. From your Chihuahuas to your Great Danes, any dog with a nose can take part in Scentwork!
Our Beginners class is designed for those who are complete beginners to Scentwork or have some previous Scentwork experience.
What will you and your dog learn?
The aim of our Beginners classes is to get you & your dog enjoying doing Scentwork together as a team!
During our 6 week block we will cover:
- Introducing Red Kong to our dog’s scent library
- Different types of searches (Pipes, bags, chairs, novel & vehicle)
- Teaching a freeze indication
- Reading your dog’s body language when they find the scent article & looking out for those changes in body language during a search
- Fun mini mock trial at the end of the 6 week block to put the above skills into action
What to bring with you for classes:
A Red Kong (Medium or Large)
Your dogs favourite rewards- food/toys (make sure you bring plenty of treats)
Harness (if you have one- ideally y-shaped), double ended training lead & flat collar with id tag on
Suitable rest area- car/crate
On completion of this 6 week block of classes you will be able to take part in a UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze trial to gain your Bronze trial level certificate.
You’ll also receive a certificate & rosette on completion of the 6 week block of classes.
Progression Scentwork (Silver)
Who are the classes for?
Are you a dog owner that would like to continue their Scentwork journey?
Our Progression class is designed for those who have completed their UK Sniffer Dogs Beginners Scentwork (Bronze level) whether that is with myself or another UK Sniffer Dog approved instructor and want to continue on to the next level.
What will you and your dog learn?
The aim of our Progression classes is to expand you & your dog’s Scentwork skills in a fun enjoyable way whilst continuing to build your teamwork!
During our 6 week block we will cover:
- Introducing Gun oil & Catnip to our dog’s scent library
- Different types of searches (Pipes, bags, chairs, novel, vehicle & active)
- Building on our dog’s indication
- Working on a retrieve & hand delivery for the active search
- Fun mini mock trial at the end of the 6 week block to put the above skills into action
On completion of this 6 week block of classes you will be able to take part in a UK Sniffer Dogs Silver trial to gain your Silver trial level certificate. You’ll also receive a certificate & rosette on completion of the 6 week block of classes.
What to bring with you for classes:

- Harness (if you have one- ideally y-shaped), double ended training lead & flat collar with id tag on
- Suitable rest area- car/crate
We have learnt as owners and bonded more with Bertie.
